New Value Capital Investment Enterprise Huanchuang Technology Officially Enters VR/AR with 6DOF Handle
2023/09/07
In September last year, Camsense Technology completed a C9 round of financing of nearly 1 million yuan, led by Tongge Venture Capital, followed by HTC's industrial fund and Shenzhen Zhizhicheng Group under Shenzhen State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and New Value Capital exclusively led the pre-A2017 round in 2, and is currently carrying out a new round of financing planning.
Sensor algorithm fusion drives development
Camsense was founded in 2014 and is committed to becoming a leading global computer vision spatial positioning technology company.
With the continuous development of the hard technology industry, technological innovation will continue to empower the underlying architecture, and as technology production capacity gradually penetrates into the industry, Camsense will fully mobilize its own technical resource advantages to help more partners create a more digital and intelligent location service scenario experience.
Deep focus on VR/AR field
Since May 2021, domestic VR/AR manufacturers have successively launched new products, and the pace of iteration has accelerated significantly. Camsense chose to start from the interactive technology field it is good at and attack the VR/AR track again.
In terms of interactive technology, "Camsense" chose to cut into a more subdivided track - 6DOF controller. 6DOF is a key word in VR. "DOF" stands for "degrees of freedom", the additional number represents how many different axes to track, and 6DOF represents three major axes (translation) and three auxiliary axes (rotation). 3DOF VR limits the use of a set of rotating or panning devices, and the rotation and panning functions cannot be implemented at the same time, while the 6DOF experience can satisfy both rotation and panning.
In the past, most of the lower-priced VR technologies enabled 3DOF because it was easier and less expensive to track rotational motion than to track translational motion. As users continue to pay attention to the "immersive" VR experience, 6DOF will also be used on most VR devices. As early as 2020, Camsense launched the VR controller kit "Camsense XR" based on vision and inertial sensing positioning technology, which can realize VR/AR monocular vision 6DOF tracking. Camsense XR adopts a "visual tracking + inertial guidance" sensing scheme, which can be compensated by inertial sensing when the handle is outside the camera's tracking range, and combined with algorithms to achieve stable and smooth controller tracking effect.
At present, Camsense mainly provides 6DOF algorithm technology and controller hardware for terminal brand customers of VR all-in-one machines or PCs and VR products, plus its own factory production advantages, which can provide customers with a complete 6DOF hardware R&D production line.
In the VR/AR field, Camsense is both a pioneer and a deep participant. Camsense Technology has locked in the VR/AR field when it was not hot, and has returned to the VR/AR track after major manufacturers have entered the productization. Zhou Kun said that at present, the productization of "Camsense" in the VR/AR field has just begun, and he does not dare to talk about the concept of market share for the time being.
Fortunately, although the VR/AR industry is large, it is not common for companies like Camsense to focus on providing 6DOF controller technology. Moreover, the downstream customer concentration of the 6DOF controller is very high, and the main players include the familiar Meta, SONY, Pico and so on. Zhou Kun also revealed that Camsense's first customer cooperation product will be officially released and put into mass production in September, which will help Camsense lay a more solid market share foundation in the future.
